Fort Pokaran: A 14th century citadel on the ancient trading route to Persia in Western Rajasthan.

Fort Pokaran is a red sandstone fort standing proud amidst the great Thar desert about an hour east of Jaisalmer. The old fashioned rooms and brilliant views, will keep you stuck in time. Come here to discover the mysteries of the desert.  

Highlights: This is the real thing. It really gives you the authentic feel of a living fort - not everything is swish hotel-like, so you feel like you are in someone's (very large) home.
