India in a nut shell
What is it that identifies India? Is it the Taj Mahal, the Ganges, turbans, saris, holy cows, curries, cricket, snake charmers, or Hinduism? None of these alone is ‘India’. What ever it is, we can surely say it is a world of colours and contrasts. India is also a dynamic democracy with one of the fastest growing economies in the 21st century, yet deeply rooted in tradition. Cultural distinctiveness modelled by a rich history and extremely diverse natural living conditions is a hallmark. There are principally three seasons: The Hot, the Wet and the Cool. Although quite different in different sections of the country, the best time to visit is from September to April where you can almost go everywhere. From May to September is monsoon in the majority of places but it is still possible to travel for example to Tamil Nadu in the south or places in the northern parts of India. Hinduism is the largest religion in India but there are still millions of Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Sikhs and many other minorities. Hindus themselves are as diverse in their faith as in other facets of Indian culture. Many fascinating beliefs are intertwined in the lives of the Indians and the visitor is often surprised of the relative societal harmony. No matter your interests, age, number of travellers and budget: India is a fantastic place for everyone to visit!
