Experience North East India

This trip tries to capture a feel of what the North East is about: a mosaic of tribes each with their own culture, breathtaking natural beauty, huge bio-diversity, a rich variety of bird and animal species. We include 3 fabulous areas in this trip: Cherrapunjee and the Mawllynong area in Meghalaya, Kaziranga National Park and Majuli river island, a world heritage site, staying at ethnic guest houses and eco-camps. People interested in culture and wildlife (birdwatcher’s paradise) would love this. Children are welcome on this trip.

Short Program

Day 1: Arrive at Guwahati airport
Days 2 and 3: Drive towards Shillong (3 hours), and onto Mawllynong village (an additional 2 hrs) located on the Bangladesh border. After settling in, the next day can be spent exploring the village on walks and hikes.
Day 4: See the caves near Cherrapunjee and then drive back to Ghy in Guwahati (5 hours).
Day 5: Drive to Kaziranga (5 hours). Jeep safari in the afternoon.
Days 6 and 7: Elephant safari in the morning. An afternoon ferry will take you over the Brahmaputra to Majuli. The next day, tours of the Majuli river island village and monasteries are organised. Also watch the traditional Monastic dance when here.
Day 8: Ferry ride to Jorhat. Tea estate  and factory visit. Visit the Ahom kingdom ruins.
Day 9: Departure from Jorhat airport
